The site was "allegedly" sold by the CAP forum moderator "Dominique".

Funny thing though... she still has a link for it on her sig on all the forums she posts on.

I recall her saying she sold it to an unnamed person for an undisclosed six figure amount.

My best guess is that it was a publicity ploy geared at generating buzz about the site. It probably had the after benefit of providing an arm's length between her and the site, should the authorities ever go after portal owners, but that is highly unlikely.
